Meet our new software engineer: Gabriel Marica!

I’m a software engineer with over six years of experience in the field, and for the past four years, I’ve been working as a consultant on large-scale global projects contributing to Nespresso for the past three years and UniCredit for one year.

How did your journey in software development begin?
I started my journey with an internship at Nymphis Technologies in Romania, where I learned the basics of software development and grew my skills as a professional. The collaboration was fantastic, and I had the opportunity to work with some amazing people who supported my transition into consulting roles.

What brought you to the Netherlands?
Recently, I moved to the Netherlands with my girlfriend to start a new chapter in our lives. I’m currently pursuing an MSc in Computer Science as part of a joint degree program between VU and UvA. It gives me lots of chances to improve my technical skills, meet new people, make connections, and get a feel for Dutch culture.

Why did you choose to join ConsultAssistent?
I’ve always been a proactive person who enjoys taking initiative and supporting others. That’s why I decided to try my hand at a scale-up. The opportunity to have a direct impact on decision-making, and not just be limited to one role, feels like the perfect fit for my proactive personality. I think my technical skills can really help the company grow, and I’m excited to take on new challenges along the way.

How is your experience at ConsultAssistent so far?
I feel lucky to be part of such a friendly and enthusiastic team at ConsultAssistent. Everyone helps each other out, shares ideas, and focuses on the same goals, which makes the work fun and effective. The flexibility at the company is another reason I’m happy to be here. It lets me balance work and my MSc studies. I’m glad the team has that kind of mindset: valuing both personal growth and creating an environment where everyone can contribute and thrive.
