ConsultAssistant deployed for research on treatment effect of EDB in Ménière's disease
In July 2021, the American Journal of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery a research article on the outcomes of EDB (endolymphatic-duct-blockade) in Ménière's disease. Authors of this study included Jet Schenk, Claire Bommeljé, Peter Paul van Benthem and Henk Blom.
The aim of this article was to investigate the quality of life, subjective complaints and objective hearing after treatment with endolymphatic-duct blockade in patients with persistent Ménière's disease. ConsultAssistent was used for data collection in this retrospective cohort study.
One of the conclusions: EDB significantly improves the quality of life of patients with Ménière's disease, although some patients require additional treatment. The effect on hearing and subjective complaints varied in the study. More research, especially prospective studies, into EDB is still needed.
Data collection for this retrospective cohort study was conducted entirely through ConsultAssistent
We are proud that ConsultAssistent contributed to this relevant research, which offers a treatment perspective and hope for people with Ménière's disease.
