Smart digital triage with ConsultAssistent's POS module at Ommelander Ziekenhuis Groningen

The Groningen Hospital uses the Pre Operative Screening (POS) module of ConsultAssistent. Here it is determined even before the appointment whether a patient needs a physical or, for example, a telephone consultation. Together with the anesthesiologists, clear triage criteria have been drawn up for this.

The POS module asks targeted questions to identify medical risks early. A distinction is made here between "red flags" and "orange flags."
- Red flags, such as a muscular disease or restricted mouth opening, automatically lead to the recommendation for a physical appointment at the outpatient clinic.
- Orange flags also give cause for an outpatient consultation if a certain combination of answers is given.

In addition, the POS module generates an alert when a physical appointment is scheduled, for example, when a telephone consultation would thus suffice. Soon this digital triage will be applied even before scheduling appointments. Thus, every patient will receive the right care at the right place, at the right time, right from the start.
