Who are you?
I am Joost van Tongeren, a former ENT specialist, medical leader, and change agent in healthcare. My motivation is to create conditions in which people—both professionals and patients—can reach their full potential. I enjoy working at the intersection of medical expertise, data, and organization, with the goal of ensuring that healthcare remains future-proof and of the highest quality.
What will you be focusing on at ConsultAssistent?
As Medical Head, I focus on the medical content, quality, and practical applicability of our solutions in relation to capacity challenges in healthcare. I work with healthcare professionals and the team to design ConsultAssistent in such a way that it truly helps make care processes smarter, more predictable, and more efficient—while enhancing quality and accessibility.
What appeals to you about ConsultAssistent?
What appeals to me is that ConsultAssistent’s products are not an end in themselves, but tools for keeping healthcare accessible. By helping patients enter consultations better prepared and providing professionals with insight in advance, we make better use of scarce time and capacity. That is essential in a healthcare system where demand continues to grow and resources are limited.
And what else?
By making smarter use of available information, we reduce unnecessary repeat visits, waste, and administrative burdens. This frees up time for what really matters: providing quality care to the right patient at the right time.
