Meet our new Medical Head: Joost van Tongeren

We are delighted to announce that Joost van Tongeren has joined ConsultAssistent as Medical Head.

Who are you?
I am Joost van Tongeren, former ENT specialist, medical leader, and change agent in healthcare. My motivation is to create conditions in which people—both professionals and patients—can thrive. I enjoy working at the intersection of medical content, data, and organization, with the aim of keeping healthcare future-proof and of high quality.

What will you focus on at ConsultAssistent?
As Medical Head, I focus on the medical content, quality, and applicability of our solutions in relation to the challenges of capacity in healthcare. I work with healthcare professionals and the team to design ConsultAssistent in such a way that it actually helps to make healthcare processes smarter, more predictable, and more efficient—while enhancing quality and accessibility.

What appeals to you about ConsultAssistent?
What appeals to me is that ConsultAssistent's products are not an end in themselves, but tools for keeping healthcare accessible. By ensuring that patients are better prepared for their consultations and giving professionals insight in advance, we make better use of scarce time and capacity. This is essential in a healthcare system where demand continues to grow and space is limited.

And what else?
By using available information more intelligently, we reduce unnecessary repeat consultations, waste, and administrative burdens. This creates space for what really matters: good care for the right patient at the right time.
