Meet our new software engineer: Gabriel Marica!
I’m a software engineer with over six years of experience in the field, and for the past four years, I’ve been working as a consultant on large-scale global projects, contributing to Nespresso for the past three years and UniCredit for one year.
How did your journey in software development begin?
I began my career with an internship at Nymphis Technologies in Romania, where I learned the basics of software development and honed my professional skills. The team was fantastic, and I had the opportunity to work with some amazing people who supported my transition into consulting roles.
What brought you to the Netherlands?
Recently, I moved to the Netherlands with my girlfriend to start a new chapter in our lives. I’m currently pursuing an MSc in Computer Science as part of a joint degree program between VU and UvA. It gives me plenty of opportunities to improve my technical skills, meet new people, build connections, and get a feel for Dutch culture.
Why did you decide to join ConsultAssistent?
I’ve always been a proactive person who enjoys taking the initiative and supporting others. That’s why I decided to try my hand at working at a scale-up. The opportunity to have a direct impact on decision-making—and not just be limited to a single role—feels like the perfect fit for my proactive personality. I believe my technical skills can really help the company grow, and I’m excited to take on new challenges along the way.
How has your experience at ConsultAssistent been so far?
I feel lucky to be part of such a friendly and enthusiastic team at ConsultAssistent. Everyone helps each other out, shares ideas, and works toward the same goals, which makes the work enjoyable and effective. The flexibility at the company is another reason I’m happy to be here. It allows me to balance work and my M.S. studies. I’m glad the team has that kind of mindset: valuing both personal growth and creating an environment where everyone can contribute and thrive.
